Izzy here...

"The Pekingese is the aristocrat of dogdom. Called 'The Lion Dog' in China more than a thousand years ago, he was the favorite of the Court and spent his life in the palaces ofthe wealthy and cultured, where he became one of the greatest little autocrats." --off a first edition book flap by E. P. Dutton & Co., Inc.
Izzy here.
Yeah. I'm a dog. Want to make something of it? GRRRR!
In my next life, I'm coming back a Pekingese.
Paws for peace.

Spirit of the Akita

Original author unknown -
I was standing on a hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And the spirit of my Akita dog
Appeared suddenly at my feet.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes
An ancient wisdom shining through
and in the essence of his being
I saw his love for me, too.
His mind did lock upon my heart
As I stood there on that day
then he told me of this story
About a place so far away.
I stood upon that hillside
In a field of lowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second
his spirit left my feet.
His tale put my heart at ease
My fears did fade away
He helped me know where he had gone
when he left me on that day.
"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind
so do not grieve for me, my friend
As I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue
My leash a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.
So when your life on earth is spent
And you stand at Heaven's gate
Haveno fear of loneliness
for here, you know I wait."

A Sunday
Izzy here.
Yeah.
You know.
Today is a Sunday. I like a Sunday.
A Sunday means me and my person hanging around, lying in bed, TV, no telephone...
My person reads The New York Times, sips black coffee and I curl round as a donut at her feet.
I keep my person's feet warm on a Sunday.
That's my job.
Got to go.
Time to get to work.
Paws for peace,
Izzy
